Available in three configurations, Omega 8000, Omega 10000, and Omega 12000, the Omega Series delivers planetary winch performance purpose-built for car carriers and tow trucks. 

The Omega Series: Planetary Design Built for This Application 

Spring-Loaded Pull and Rotate Clutch 

Adjustable Drag Brake 

The drag brake is adjustable and field-tunable to prevent drum overspin during free spooling. If cable bird nests during deployment, drag resistance can be increased on-site without removing the winch from the vehicle.  

Automatic Load-Holding Ball and Ramp Brake 

The automatic load-holding brake uses a ball and ramp design to hold the full rated capacity of the winch without operator input. When load is applied, the brake engages automatically.  

Ramsey Roller Tensioner 

The Omega Series includes the Ramsey roller tensioner, a cable management system designed to guide wire rope onto the drum consistently during reel-in.  Uneven spooling that piles cable to one side of the drum creates poor layer geometry, accelerating wear and reducing effective line pullon the outer layers.  The roller tensioner maintains consistent spooling geometry, supporting reliable layer-by-layer performance across all four cable layers.

Three Configurations, One Common Chassis 

The Omega 8000, Omega 10000, and Omega 12000 share the same 126 lb chassis and 5.1:1 gear reduction. Differences in motor displacement and wire rope specification account for capacity differences across the line. 

Omega 8000 

Rated line pull: 8,000 lbs (first layer) 

  • Motor: 15.2 cu. in./rev. 
  • Recommended wire rope: 3/8″ EIPS 
  • Working pressure: 2,000 psi 
  • First-layer line speed at 17 GPM: 52 FPM 

The 8000 delivers the fastest first-layer line speed in the Omega line at 52 FPM. Well-suited for car carrier applications where load cycle speed is a priority and rated pulls fall within the 8,000 lb range. 

Omega 10000 

Rated line pull: 10,000 lbs (first layer) 

  • Motor: 22.8 cu. in./rev. 
  • Recommended wire rope: 7/16″ EIPS 
  • Working pressure: 1,700 psi 
  • First-layer line speed at 17 GPM: 35 FPM 

The 10000 increases rated capacity by 25% over the 8000 while maintaining the same chassis and installation footprint. The 22.8 cu. in. motor and 7/16″ wire rope provide the pulling capacity required for heavier car transport and light-duty tow truck applications. 

Omega 12000 

Rated line pull: 12,000 lbs (first layer) 

  • Motor: 22.8 cu. in./rev. 
  • Recommended wire rope: 7/16″ EIPS 
  • Working pressure: 2,000 psi 
  • First-layer line speed at 17 GPM: 35 FPM 

The 12000 is the highest-capacity Omega configuration. The right choice for tow truck OEMs building equipment that needs to handle heavier disabled vehicles or more demanding recovery scenarios within the car carrier and light-to-medium tow truck segment. 

Air and Manual Shift: Flexible System Integration 

All three Omega configurations are available in both air shift and manual shift variants. OEMs building equipment with existing pneumatic control systems can integrate the air shift Omega directly. Manual shift suits layouts where hydraulic and pneumatic routing is more constrained. Both variants use the same spring-loaded pull and rotate clutch design, the shift mechanism changes, but clutch engagement verification behavior is consistent across both options.
